Global Circuit Evolution: Strategic Prospects and New Venue Viability for the 2026–2030 F1 Cycle
The 2026 Formula 1 season is officially set to usher in a new era as the sport navigates a “one-in, one-out” policy for race hosting.
While the newly signed Concorde Agreement (2026–2030) maintains a 25-race ceiling, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has confirmed the calendar will remain capped at 24 rounds to manage paddock fatigue.
This decision comes despite massive interest from new markets. Just this month, a two-year deal was finalized for Portugal’s Portimao circuit to return in 2027 and 2028.
However, with heavyweights like Thailand and Rwanda bidding for spots, and South Africa and Malaysia seeking returns, current hosts like the Netherlands are already stepping aside to make room for the sport’s global evolution.
